St Anthony Church - Teluk Intan



THE PRESENT GOD

God is the present moment. He is truly present in every moment of  life, in most special way is through meeting and encountering with new people. He is also something which then we think as “well-arranged”. It looks strange but true and real.

It happened when I met Father Moses Lui last Thursday (23/4) here at the Provincialate-PJ. That night after the common chat the conversation went to “Teluk Intan and visiting Indonesian migrant community”. Plan for the trip was discussed later on.

The following day (Friday/24/4) the journey started. Trip PJ-Teluk Intan took about two hours drive. We reached Church of St Anthony – Teluk Intan around five in the evening. Then, the story began. Some parishioners came and took us for “makan”. One parishioner offered me to have short city tour. Again, meeting with new people is a blessing. Common questions came out: who are you, where are you from, what are you doing, etc. It is interesting that new people will always want to get “everything personal” from others. But, in meeting with those new people, the parishioners, I knew how to deal with. Just give any answer for the sake that “the conversation should flow nicely”.  

Visit to the migrant community was made on Saturday night (25/4). Despite little raindrop I was accompanied by three fellows from the migrant ministry. They took me to Kuala Bikam (45 minutes drive from Teluk Intan) to meet with one of the leader Thadeus the Timorese. He then guided us into one of the migrant camp inside the plantation. It is about one kilometer from the main road. A group of twenty young men and few couples were waiting for us. They gave very warmth welcome. The prayer service was started immediately. During sharing session I introduced myself and mentioned purpose of the visit. First time for them to have a visit from a religious Brother! Fellowship was followed after the session. We were back to Teluk Intan at 11.45 pm.

The following day (Sun/26/4) I attended 9.15 am Morning Mass and met another group of the Timorese after mass. I gave encouragement and support “to always stand with the church”. At 10.45 am we were heading to PJ.

Thank You, oh Lord for granting me this great opportunity, most specially allowing to meet Father Moses Lui, the loving parishioners of Church of St Anthony – Teluk Intan and the journey to meet the marginalized Timorese migrant community.

I love this life!

A NEW DAY

It is always in a new day when you start to look at something new. To meet people out there some might be a challenge - the chemistry! Those who would like to say that. That suddenly you can't get along with someone when you feel strange, worry and uncomfortable. I might not be used to look at their eyes, or deep inside down there (in myself) I could not find my peace. If you have peace inside then your peace outside should be exposed in natural way. However, things may be found different. Again, in a natural way the connection is just a matter of click. And, the complete peace happens. The laughter and all the sweetness turn up.
