Lack of skills in time management such as being late raising in the morning, finishing certain assignment or being late for some appointments seem to be very common and excuse-able. What is it all about? It might be caused by culture of convenience or “easy life”. Perhaps, that is the technology which always introduces as well as promotes easiness in our way of life. We become more on gadget-oriented – gadgets which always offer unending pleasure. Even, we might be enslaved by those kinds of tools. To be a loser seemingly lost its popularity. Nobody wants to be defeated. Being a loser brings an “emotional” meaning of deficiency, deterioration, abandoned and neglected, therefore the defeat must be avoided wherever possible. Winners also get a better reward compared to the loser. This resulted an undeniable gaps in the win-lose arena. Winning and losing are two creatures blurred by perception. People admit that. They provide different recognition. Winners are placed in "higher" than the loser. Though, a real win-lose is a matter of quantity. The winner has a number that is greater than the loser. At the simple, classical level of daily activity, we clearly have an effect on matter. We mould it and make it, we digest it, burn it, cool it, break it down and build it up again, etc. And at this same simple level, matter and its processes clearly have an effect on us. The food that I eat can poison or nourish me, the rock lying on my path can trip me and break my toe, the locked door at the side of the house can stop me from getting into the garden. More basic still, the chemicals in the earth and the sunlight which shines upon them are necessary to the existence and functioning of my body, as are the oxygen that I breathe and the water that I drink. I very much concern on reflective thinking session as the medium or tools to make better understanding to the definition of God. Reflective thinking is very effective in terms of the way to questioning my existence to this life. Life should be able to be questioned instead it will be a very “dead and meaningless” one. Questioning life is also questioning myself with all strengths and weaknesses. The “quality” of my reflective thinking is questionable to deal with strengths and weaknesses I should work out. In certain cases it is very hard to adjust with flexibility….the same with adjustment in the new atmosphere or environment. THE SINGAPOREAN WAY: EGOISME NEGARA-KOTA Sebuah gereja Katolik yang terletak di Chapel Road, Singapore mengadakan Misa Paskah pagi pukul 7.15 pada sebuah hari Minggu tanggal 12 April 2009. Hari itu udara cukup cerah walau agak mendung. Gereja yang cukup megah dengan umat yang sebagian besar datang menggunakan mobil (mewah) pribadi. Walau tidak terlalu banyak dihadiri umat namun suasana misa berjalan lancar dan cukup khidmat. Seluruh petugas misa memakai jas. Sangat formal, serius dengan mengikuti tatacara misa yang telah direncanakan dengan baik. Misa dilakukan dengan menggunakan bahasa Inggris. Pembaca bacaan membaca dengan intonasi yang sangat jelas dan sedikit terdengar Singaporean-styled pronunciation. Namun demikian tatacara dan suasana misa terlihat sangat berbeda dibandingkan pengalaman yang pernah diikuti oleh Penulis baik di Indonesia maupun Malaysia. Disini gaya kota sangat terasa. Nampak jelas sosok negara-kota seperti Singapore hanyalah menghasilkan egoisme. Salam damai dal...
