Lasallian Encounter 2015 - La Salle Centre Ipoh

I attended Lasallian Encounter at La Salle Centre – Ipoh on 31/5 to 2/6. About 32 participants turned up who were all Catholics and students of different La Salle schools in Malaysia and Singapore. Nine Brothers were present in this programme. Two Brothers from SJI and SJI-I Singapore (Brothers John Fernando and Kelvin Tan), two Brothers from the Philippines (Brothers Arian Lopez and Joseph), one Brother from SFI Melaka (Brother Michael Kum), two Brothers from Sabah (Brother Egbertus and myself), and two Brothers from Ipoh Community (Brothers Vincent and Matthew Bay). Also present two teachers accompanying their students, they were from St Paul – Seremban and La Salle – Kota Kinabalu.

Participants were given perspective about the Brothers’ life. Three areas were covered: Faith, Service and Community. During the programme they did some role plays, games and presentation facilitated either by the Brothers or staffs from La Salle Centre. They enjoyed most of the activities and shared many moments of joy in the Lasallian spirit.

My observation is that todays’ young people are very much craving for moments of “appreciation”. There is a great need of medium where they can show up their identity and “energy”, and more importantly, surrounded by creative environment.  They are also looking for "a-ha stuffs" which can only be created by those who love to be "submitted and exposed" to the new things. I have to learn this new trend.
