The gift of REAP

Image
Got souvenir from REAP (Religious Education Accreditation Program) 2-day workshop delivered by Brisbane Catholic Education (25-26 November 2016) at Catholic Junior College - Singapore. It was very inspiring. The workshop has given a lot of reference for RE teacher. And, more than that ... it's like validating what we have done in the classroom. The workshop was integrated with para-liturgy - creative prayer service in such a way that it has changed my horizon. Thank you for Father Edward Seah - Chairman of ACCS (Archdiocese Commission for Catholic Schools) who hosted this event for Catholic teachers. Teaching is not just about presenting the material, but also conversion of the teacher himself. In other words, teaching should be able to enlighten the teacher to be more active and creative. It should make the teacher see all the challenges as treasures. And, in the end, how to use those treasures to give more benefit to teaching-learning environment. Both teacher and ...

Hear what they say

Listening is a gift. It is when we place ourselves for others. Listen and hear what they say. It is all with emotion, deep inside themselves. The world inside is dynamic, and you can only see by listening. Story of young people today... So competitive Although I was born into a privilege family, with all my physical needs take care of, I have still faced small adversities that have hindered my progress through life. A few years back, when I was ten, there was a new girl in our class, as a naturally bubbly girl, I immediately took her under my wing. We soon became fast friends, practically inseparable, but one day a girl from my class noticed her, and started inviting her to join a group of girls. Slowly, our time together was dwindling as she spent her time with them. I was young and naive, so I became very lonely and sad, weeping all day and feeling down, essentially. I remember one morning, I dreaded going to school so I ran to my parents room crying. (SP-8/11/2016) Miss her muc...

What brings together ...

Image
This photo was taken some time in last August during lunch out at Nasi Padang Pariaman restaurant. The restaurant was located in Arab Street - Malay Heritage Singapore. The host was Ms Susi Teo (sitting next to our "big boss" Brother Larry), Vice Principal for Pastoral Care. She is originated from Bandung - Indonesia, and has been with the school since the inception in 2007. It is always with the smiling spirit of friendship that bring us together. With and in the meal everything is "settled". Why? The food was good and we enjoyed it. Then, the conversation started to flow and followed a natural mood. When you get the taste, you find what you want - the happiness. All you need is just table, chair and the food. But, you should not be busy with the food. The real consumption is the atmosphere. Outside themselves is a role. They are labelled with different "earthly" roles. Sometimes, their roles go to certain conversation. During conversation, some mig...

A NEW DAY

Image
It is always in a new day when you start to look at something new. To meet people out there some might be a challenge - the chemistry! Those who would like to say that. That suddenly you can't get along with someone when you feel strange, worry and uncomfortable. I might not be used to look at their eyes, or deep inside down there (in myself) I could not find my peace. If you have peace inside then your peace outside should be exposed in natural way. However, things may be found different. Again, in a natural way the connection is just a matter of click. And, the complete peace happens. The laughter and all the sweetness turn up. Let the natural way be the guidance. Flow as it is with no single interruption or personal agenda. Why? there is no other way than being the best for yourself for the entire of your life. Don't even say "regret" for the decision you have made. You treasure it! Some say about "the process rather than result". Let pieces of yo...

God does matter?

Image
It is interesting if it is not "scary" that young people today has been going beyond "the box". It is normal though with the "creative mind" which can not be calm and peacefully rest in the deepest part of the self. That's the "root" problem coming from actually. Anyway, it is just a thought. Beyond God matters is that "you are what your answer is". Look and identify their answers. You will know who they are. Critical means stubborn and greed. He want to finish out the question, to demand the details and ... to ask for some more. Let see where it is. Simplicity of question is not always with "simple" answer. Why and what happened? QUESTION: Some people think that God has already pre-planned our whole life, do you agree with this? Explain your answer. ANSWER: (By AN) Relatively. As I believe God has plans laid for us and has created a road for us to walk. However, we still have the choice whether we walk the ...
